Although it is not required, We highly recommend paying the deposit upon applying. This will further secure the apartment for you and take it off the market. Once a deposit is received, you are first in line for approval by management. While we may accept backup applications for the apartment in the interim, applicants who have taken the unit off the market get priority.
If you do not place your deposit upon applying, you risk losing the apartment to another applicant.
If you are not approved for an apartment and have already paid your deposit, email apply@madehome.nyc to request your refund. Refunds are issued within 24-72 hours via Zelle. If daily limits to not allow, clients can pick up a check directly from our office. Kindly note that refunds cannot be issued via Venmo.

If your credentials are below the standard requirements and you’re unable to secure a physical guarantor to strengthen your application, you may want to consider using a third party guarantor. Third party guarantors are companies that, for a small fee, will serve as your guarantor throughout the duration of your lease. Using a third party guarantor will increase the likelihood of your approval, if needed. The most common third party guarantor companies include insurent, theguarantors and Rhino. Please note that a pre approval through these companies is required.
The average turnaround time for feedback on an application once it’s been submitted to the landlord is within 24-72 hours (sometimes sooner)! Keep in mind that we can only move as fast as our clients allow us to, hence why it’s imperative that all required and requested documents are submitted within a timely fashion. We cannot submit an incomplete application to any landlord for review.
